Until recently, connecting different implements to the tractor could be problematic because it required as many control devices as there were tools to be placed in the cab, not to mention all the various cables. With the introduction of new technologies, the number of control devices in the cab could also become high, making it all the more difficult to manage.
The introduction of Isobus is therefore a true revolution in this field.
Isobus is the standard protocol that makes it possible to manage the communication between tractors, software and equipment of major manufacturers, allowing the exchange of data and information with a universal language through a single control console in the tractor’s cab.
The Isobus protocol is the result of an agreement between the main manufacturers of agricultural machinery and equipment to solve compatibility problems, standardising communication among different implements, regardless of the manufacturer.
Thanks to Isobus, the cab becomes an authentic on-board computer that can control the tools and implement, ensuring the exchange of information.
With Isobus it is possible to control all the activities while staying comfortably seated in the cab, all the data being collected in a single display. The exchange of information and data offers an irreplaceable support for all operations:
The Isobus system therefore makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the production process with a consequent reduction in costs. Indeed, it helps to rationalise the use of fertilisers and chemicals, ensuring targeted distribution. In combination with a satellite system, it helps to avoid overlapping or empty areas. It reduces operator fatigue, as the tools communicate with each other thereby allowing the automation of activities.
The data relating to the work done by Isobus equipment can be used for remote fleet management and diagnostics (fleet management). The possibility of acquiring, transmitting and storing data collected from tractors and equipment allows real-time monitoring of the various machines’ activities. Thanks to GPS systems it is possible to measure the status and position of tractors, measure their productivity and receive information on any problems.
In 2015 Argo Tractors obtained Isobus certification for the Tractor ECU control unit (TECU) at the Reggio Emilia Innovazione laboratory, an organisation that has been accredited for both software and hardware Isobus certification (ISO 11783).
The adoption of the Isobus system on Landini tractors allows a “dialogue” with the equipment using a universal language. A fundamental turning point also for integrating the main tools of precision farming.
