Dirko Kruger is the sole owner of the farm Magneetkop between the Highveld towns of Belfast and Middelburg in Mpumalanga. He joined the farming operation directly after school and for the past thirty years lived out his passion for farming.

Dirko focuses his row crop operations on cultivating maize, soya beans and cover crops in a minimum tillage system adapted to his needs and circumstances on the farm. One of the differences in his farming practices is that he sows the soya beans instead of the customary planting.

Before planting he will only prepare the fields for cultivation but stresses that he does not till or turn the soil. The maize, soya and cover crops are planted to a rotation system all focused on soil health.

He also has a commercial cattle herd that fits in well with the grain division. Utilising the plant rests after harvesting supports the natural grazing available on the farm.

A decade ago, he switched to Landini tractors and since then has built a strong relationship with Alpha Agri in Middelburg. Alpha Agri is an authorized Landini dealership serving in the Mpumalanga and Limpopo areas. From their premises in Middelburg and Groblersdal, they not only sell new tractors but also carry a large selection of pre-owned tractors, implements and parts.

Dirko uses the Landini Serie 7-160 is used for chemical spraying and fertiliser applications, while the Landini Landforce 125 is used to sow soya beans and plant cover crops. He uses the Landini Solis 75 mostly for general tasks around the farm and specifically to transport animal feed.

Since he bought his first tractor from Alpha Agri, Dirko remained a loyal customer. “The Landini tractors are cost effective and fuel efficient. I have never regretted my decision. The running cost is low and the tractor operators find them easy to use.”
